Third Graders on the Move

This student created a picture of herself, swimming.
This student used the template twice to show herself and a friend playing baseball.
This is the template we started with.
To begin this activity, we started out by talking about how our bodies move, and the parts of the body that help us move. We discussed where we have joints, and then we looked at human figure templates. We brainstormed activities that we enjoy, and then tried out the templates by putting them into a movement pose. The students took turns holding and tracing the templates. Next, we talked about adding clothing, facial features, and hair. Students were asked to make their template look just like them! We then added relevant background. The students enjoyed this activity, and the results were great!
